Bookster brings your love of reading to Discord. Track books, join bookclubs, discover award winners, and share your literary adventures with your community.
Bookster ("the Bot") is created and operated by beavercake. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Bookster in your Discord server.
Information We Collect
Bookster collects and stores the following information:
Discord User ID: Your unique Discord identifier, used to link your reading list and preferences to your account
Discord Username: Your current Discord username for display purposes
Reading Data: Books you add to your reading list, including titles, authors, ratings, reading status, and favorite selections
Profile Preferences: Your chosen profile title and color theme
Bookclub Data: Information about bookclubs you create or participate in, including nominations and discussion activity
Server ID: The Discord server ID where bookclubs are created

Message content outside of bot commands
Direct messages
Voice or video data
Personal information beyond Discord identifiers
Data from other bots or applications
How We Use Your Information
Your data is used exclusively to:
Maintain your personal reading list and preferences
Generate your profile card with reading statistics
Facilitate bookclub features including nominations, selections, and check-ins
Provide personalized book recommendations based on your reading history
Data Storage and Security
All data is stored in a local SQLite database on the server hosting Bookster. We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as you continue to use the Bot. If you wish to have your data deleted, please contact beavercake through the Holler N Haint Discord server.
Third-Party Services
Bookster uses the following third-party APIs to provide book information:
Google Books API: For book search, descriptions, and cover images
Open Library API: For additional book data
These services have their own privacy policies. We only send search queries to these services and do not share your personal Discord information.
Children's Privacy
Bookster is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.

By adding Bookster to your Discord server or using any of its features, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please remove the bot from your server and discontinue use.
Description of Service
Bookster is a Discord bot that provides reading tracking, book discovery, bookclub management, and community features. The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
User Responsibilities
When using Bookster, you agree to:
Use the bot in compliance with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines
Not attempt to exploit, hack, or abuse the bot's functionality
Not use the bot for spam, harassment, or any illegal activities
Not attempt to overload the bot with excessive requests
Respect other users in bookclub discussions and interactions
Intellectual Property
Bookster and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by beavercake. Book data, cover images, and descriptions are provided by third-party APIs (Google Books, Open Library) and remain the property of their respective owners and publishers.
Limitation of Liability
Beavercake and Bookster shall not be liable for any:
Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
Loss of data or reading history
Service interruptions or downtime
Inaccurate book information from third-party APIs
Actions of other users in bookclubs or discussions
Service Availability
We strive to maintain Bookster's availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The bot may be taken offline for maintenance, updates, or other reasons without prior notice.
Modifications to Service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of Bookster at any time without notice. We may also update these Terms of Service, with changes effective upon posting.
Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or restrict access to Bookster for any user or server that violates these terms or engages in abusive behavior.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.
